Taste Profile: 92 PTS WILFRED WONG. Lots going on here, the fascinating ’12 La Pincoya Cabernet exhibits ripe, black fruit flavors; shades of leather add to the wine’s complexities; smooth and bright in the finish.

Notes: Light bodied for a cab, semi-dry with dark berry notes.

Overall Rating (based on price/taste/experience): 7/10

2011 Reata Pinot Noir

Sonoma

Date: 10/19/2014

Occasion: Post BevMo trip excitement

Purchased: BevMo

Taste Profile: 92 Points, Wine Enthusiast – EDITORS CHOICE.  This shows real Sonoma Coast character in its silky texture, strong acidity and transparency of its raspberry and cherry notes, which allow for a mineral-driven taste of the soil to shine. The wine improves in the glass as it airs, picking up extra layers of complexity.

Notes: Great color and bouquet when opening. However, quite acidic at first. It took several hours to open up. Once open, very smooth; maybe too smooth.

Overall Rating (based on price/taste/experience): 5/10

2011 Ruffino Chianti Classico Riserva Ducale

Italian

Date: 10/18/2014

Occasion: Gondola ride and dinner at Cafe Gazelle in Belmont Shores

Purchased: Cafe Gazelle

Taste Profile: Riserva Ducale Chianti Classico Riserva is well balanced on the palate, with velvety tannins, firm acidity, and a lingering finish of rosemary and figs. Its structure will allow it to age for two to five years, if not longer.

Notes: Paired excellent with our Fruitti di Mare and Pescatore. Flavorful and complex but still on the lighter side for a Chianti. Fruit forward. Smooth finish.
